BOW is a global public art project that celebrates youth choreography, ballet and music by performing on the waterways of cities around the world. BOW is a non-profit platform supporting youth in the classic arts globally. The BOW project will launch in Amsterdam in the Spring of 2014.

The BOW project started on the canals of Amsterdam at the AHK (Amsterdam School of the Arts). In each participating city, an original ballet piece is performed by youth dancers and musicians (18 – 24 year old) on a flattop barge travelling the waterway, waterside docks or bridges. All performances are developed in partnership with local post-secondary arts schools and support the next generation of budding choreographers, musicians and dances in communities around the world.

From Amsterdam to New York City, rivers and lakes and the sea offer a unique and exciting public performance space that draws pedestrian traffic. Historically major cities around the world were built around these rivers and lakes as arteries for communication and commerce. BOW moves classical art from the formal theatre and onto this urban stage. The pedestrian traffic becomes the audience and ballet is moved off the traditional stage and integrated and celebrated in busiest thoroughfares of the city.

Each event is posted to the and becomes part of a global event calendar. The events are photographed and filmed and this media is published to as an exciting resource for lovers of the art everywhere.

As a youth platform, BOW is open to incorporate social media and technology into the performance. BOW is proud to work with technology innovators in each city in partnership with the Location Based Marketing Association. BOW too becomes a stage for these youth entrepreneurs to use mobile technology tools to enhance the experience for the online and street audience.

Ballet On Water is truly a public art platform: Free to the unsuspecting city goer inspiring new audiences and a new generation of young artists.

The founder of the project, Dasha Schwartz is a graduate of the National Ballet School of Canada and is a student at the AHK. Ballet On Water is a 4More Innovation Inc. project. 4More Innovation is an youth entrepreneurial company based on Washington DC, USA.
