About the Trip On March 15th 2015 I will be going back to Germany to volunteer for my 4th bi-annual youth conference with Willow Creek Deutschland. The conference dates this year are March 20th – 22nd and titled \”Base Camp\”. The days leading up to the conference start are all used for setting up the empty venue with staging, trussing, lights, cameras, power, sound, seating, rehearsal, dress rehearsal, prop construction, etc. It is a lot of long working days and short nights to get everything ready in preparation for the youth\’s arrival. This conference is to help bring the youth closer to God and for some their first introduction to God. It is truly an exhausting trip with lots of manual labor, complex problem solving, custom fabrication, very little sleep, and constantly on your feet with the only down time, if any, being between sessions. That being said it is an absolutely amazing experience that I wouldn\’t trade for anything else. The energy I feel in the room is intense from all those youth attending and how engaged they are in the conference and seeing their lives touched in a way that can’t be measured. The Funds Required As with the all the previous trips each volunteer has to raise their own money for airfare and hotel expenses. This year the cost per individual will be approximately $2,500.00. I cannot do this without your help, last conference I personally had to finance $1,800.00 of the trip myself to cover the difference of what I was able to raise and what was required. I felt strongly lead to give my time and effort to that conference as I do this coming conference; however, due to my own personal financial requirements of day-to-day life, I am not in a position to afford that kind of individual cost again. Every donation, big or small, helps towards the goal and if donations go over the amount needed for my trip the excess funds will go towards the ministry of Willow Creek Deutschland and any other volunteers struggling to raise the funds necessary for the trip. Featured Video In the featured video I included a time-lapse video a little over 2 minutes long of our last setup day from the 2013 conference so you can get an idea the scale of this conference and the work involved. It was an empty gymnasium and we had to build it all like flying the truss work, lighting placement, stage construction, screens, projectors, cameras, speakers, amplifiers, video world, front of house, monitor world, production table, etc.
